Kinesiology Tape
Do you suffer from on-going muscular swelling and pain? Need additional muscular support whilst recovering from injury? Kinesiology tape can be used as part of a treatment plan to help support weak and recovering areas of muscle. At Bellingen Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Centre, we stock a wide range of Kinesiology tape and offer expertise on how to correctly apply it to help with your symptoms.
Kinesiology tape is commonly mistaken for standard strapping tape, but there are important differences. Kinesiology tape has unique elastic properties that enable dynamic support, allowing your muscles to continue to operate within a normal range of motion. It also needs to be replaced less regularly; you can keep it on whilst showering or swimming; and overnight. Kinesiology tape may help you with:
• Muscular pain relief
• Swelling reduction
• Lymphoedema reduction
• Muscle fatigue, cramps
• Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS)
Find out more about how Kinesiology tape could help you, or pick up your supplies from our Bellingen practice.

Strapping & Braces
At Bellingen Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Centre, we stock a wide variety of rigid strapping tapes and braces, including tennis elbow bands.
Rigid tape (better known as sports tape) is used to stabilise injured ligaments and reduce the associated pain. It works by restricting excessive movement of particular joints and ligaments, to help give your injury time to repair. It’s most commonly used when returning to sport after a ligament sprain, to provide extra support during rehabilitation, but is not designed to be worn for extended periods of time.
Braces are external devices that work similar to rigid tape in helping to stabilise and control your joints and muscles. They’re a lot bulkier than tape but can provide greater support whilst allowing you to easily remove and reuse. They’re commonly used in the rehabilitation of bone fractures, disc injuries, joint instability and ligament ruptures.
Tennis Elbow bands are used to relieve symptoms of injuries commonly referred to as Tennis Elbow and Golfer’s Elbow. They compress your extensor muscle complex, reducing the force from your extensor tendon and ultimately reducing the associated pain.

Foot Orthotics
Foot orthotics (also known as insoles or shoe inserts) can help correct a range of foot related issues including Achilles tendinopathy, flat feet and bunions.
Without adequate support, your feet can cause you to experience soreness and pain throughout other parts of your body, particularly in your ankles, knees and lower back. Foot orthotics work by reducing the external forces acting on your feet and by helping your body send sensory feedback to your brain, which can alter your foots movement and improve function.
Book an appointment with us and our specialists can help diagnose your issue and provide you with the right orthotics to help.
